Many of our pupils are high achievers. In Finton families expectations are high and parents are closely involved with their children's education and development. However, there are a few children whose skills, knowledge or understanding are at a level far in excess of what would normally be expected for their age, and these children require special educational provision in order for them to reach their full potential.
Some, whose academic ability is especially high are referred to as gifted, whilst children with a special talent for one particular skill are referred to as being talented. Teachers at Finton House are committed to providing a fully differentiated learning experience, which takes full account of the gender, learning style, interests and strengths of each child in their class. In addition to this, children on the Gifted and Talented register are provided with stimulating extension activities designed to enrich their learning experience.
Additional enrichment is provided through activity days with other local schools, trips, visits and workshops aimed at the more able, as well as a huge range of opportunities for children to take part in sporting events, concerts, exhibitions, plays and competitions relevant to their area of expertise.
